eight happy things

a few simple happy things happened today:

01
had a brief breakfast/lunch with sandy and grace and it's just simply nice to sit with them. but wid is not around :(

02
grace helped me and sandy to pick up EL paper 2. darling!

punished my class for leaving books under table. a few unhappy faces, but ONE sms to apologise after. very touched.

kang kang came by today to help me.

5 out of 20 kids stayed back for coursework remedial even though it's optional.

had steamboat with kang kang and clairin and hang out. missed them.

yutong and yuxin called and spoke to me on my way driving home.

weiya sent me this blog site. check out the videos in it. totally hilarious, totally cheer anyone up. (:

that is far good enough for me.

the other side of

if anyone has time for only one movie over this weekend, go watch "MirrorMask".

the graphics and illustrations are fantastic.

MIRRORMASK tells the story of Helena, a fifteen-year-old girl working for her family circus, who wishes-quite ironically-that she could run away from the circus and join real life. just run away

my dear dr. tey looked through my thick medical chart.
he had done all the possible tests for me.
he had sent me for all the possible tests.

"you may be stressed from work, you know, and that may have caused some sort of dizziness. perhaps you should change your job."

change, of course i will.
but not now.

if i were to take a vacation,
or just run away,
i'll pack

bernard black
in my suitcase.
and i want a red suitcase.

that will do.

i'll leave a contact number for A.
in case he wants to tell me what naughty thing kiki has done today.
if there's space in the red suitcase,
i'll pack A too.

trigger happy friday

kang kang, yong cun, meow and wilson came by school to visit.
SURPRISE SURPRISE!!!!
i am so glad to see them, especially on a friday, my long day.

kang kang treated me to ribena and rice for lunch,
while yong cun went on and on about his new Poly life.
meow and wilson came just in time to help me carry papers up to the artroom.
then i have to disappear to coursework and CCA.
didn't get to chat with them more.
:(

zech came by today to help with coursework and he asked me a question.
it triggered this part of the memory i chose to keep away.
it reminded me of this person.
seriously, i don't know how he is now.
happy and still searching, i assumed.

32 years and 1 day old

today was surprises-filled

01
the cadets sang me a birthday song and a hand-made card
and the committee gave me a lovely present.
they have already given me a present on sat
- the Nursing Cadet came in 5th at the Competition
- the boys did well in their drill and score 70/100 for the short case

02
marcus, weilin and maslina dropped off interesting presents on my desk.

03
after my last lesson, haziq came running to look for me while i was scolding han joo, and informed that something had happened in the art room and needed me to be there. i followed him but was still scolding han joo on the way. as i finished scolding him, novia and iman ran past very fast. i walked up to art room, and there i saw mas, marcus, wid, sandy, grace and most of the 4B art students around a cake. they sang birthday song and we ate the cake and took pictures. thanks to mas and marcus who have planned this, i think. :)

my boss informed me at 5pm that i have to sit in at a meeting with the MD from Barang Barang. it was a good meeting, full of creative possibilities for our kids and the school but it ended late. i left school at 630 to rush for a 7pm show.

didn't make it for the movie. stuck in the traffic for 1 hour and only managed to cross over the Anak Bukit tunnel. traffic police directed the whole line of stucked cars to U-turn and i was on the home direction. poor A waited for me for an hour at Lido and had to take the train back.

reached home, not knowing the reason for the traffic jam, i decided to check the news on the TV. i can only hear sound coming out of my TV set, no images at all. finally, my BIG TV set is certified dead. now i can purchase a new TV set. Yeah!

A managed to dig out a tiny TV set from the store room, hooked it up and i saw my brother on TV. now the tiny TV set sat beautifully beside the BIG TV set. i'll still buy a new one. :)

the rainy 16th apr 2006

this year i had a quiet birthday, with 3 beloved people:
A, weiya and benny. gerald was at church.

we had a not-so-quiet late lunch and then it started to pour.
as we chat, the sky gets darker and darker, but we were sheltered.
then A and I off to our 2nd film fest movie of this year - CRAZY.

where are we now?

last year this time,
i had the first dinner and coffee session with my boys.
i ran over a guy's slippers with my car.

hahahahahaha

they were horrified with my driving,
but they still took my car for the rest of the year.
we have endless coffee sessions.

another year older, us all,
change of scenery.

to do, did, not done

planned and done:
from 8.30am to 1pm,
i sat in the art room alone marking the over-due sketch books non-stop.
5 classes done.
what a relief.
for the left-over minutes, i picked out some works and pin them on the board.
there, the still-life of mugs and ginger.
exactly at 1pm, i packed up the cadets and sent them out of school.
training done.

unplanned but did:
took a trip down to Chia Nephew.
bought more lollipops and some toys.
accidentally stepped into ACTUALLY along seah street.
the owners are warm and overly-friendly.
cool concept, may drop by again.
picked up a belt there.
then to basheer and got books.
pop by raffles city and viewed the photo exhibition.
the colours flooded my head,
a shot of excitment perks me.
i'm clueless to why,
but i am glad i've learnt art.

planned but still undone:
3 years art department plan proposal.
a high pile of ironing.
laundry.
house to be cleaned.
car to be washed.

'twas friday

the sec one cadets received their uniforms today.
they looked so cute in them,
all bright and energetic,
i hope they'd stay this way to sec four.
as tired as i could get on my usual friday coursework-SJAB routine, i was glad today.

am glad because some of the kids have got the composition done and a few are starting their coursework.
the painters are, i hope the paper-cutters would by next week.
so worried for them.

am glad because 11 out of 12 of my competition team cadets were present today for training.
all my sec ones were present and full of smiles.
dear sikin came by every friday despite her studies just to see the cadets train.

am glad because i got to spend time with wid and sandy. unfortunately grace had other committments.

am glad because it's still APRIL!!!

i hope fridays can stay this happy.

your perception

i did not rebond my hair.
i've only had my fringe cut.

if i did rebond my hair,
that was in late nov 2005.

don't ask me how, that just by having my fringe cut, suddenly the whole world thought that i've rebond it.

amazing.

anyway,
am quite touched that there are so many people who are concern about my health, as well as my hair.

so blessed.

we are art teachers

went to the coursework sharing this afternoon.
finally leaving the school early for once.
feels strange.

all these art-related-moe-events are always a chance for me to see some of my friends who are also teaching art, everywhere in singapore.
provided they turned up.

while i'm busy taking pictures for the coursework,
i overheard this conversation:

'hey, how have you been?"
'oh...ok. it's the time of the year again.'
'what time of the year?'
'the time of the year where i feel that teaching sucks...'

then a 3rd voice joined in.
'well, you just have to forget about it and it will pass.'

such is life.
for us?

even though i know you may not turn up.
still i looked.

yes,
have given you the keys.
some are still with me.

i don't know what to feel.

and where are you going?

i put on my apron,
took my brush and paint and rag and water,
i went to touch-up the painting that was being vandalised.
the wood absorbed the paint.
after layers and layers of paint being applied,
it still can't conceal the purposeful damage.

i am really upset.
really really upset.
why are there such ignorant people?
such inconsiderate brats.
