many times i've told my students that the quality of their work do not necessary always depend on how talented they are. instead, how much effort and 'heart' has been put in made up a large part of the work.
none of my teachers have ever told me that.
i was trained under a drill-and-drill environment, no 'heart' to speak of.
these years in educating my students, i've also learnt a lot, from looking and observing them. i have seen students with 20% art background, no colour sense, etc managed a piece of artwork we are all proud of. all done with 'heart'.
this applies to anything we do in life too, be it making a cup of tea or a big project. recently i've tasted a difference in something done with and without 'heart'. the bbq cuttlefish tasted very different from 2 vendors using the same technique. the steps were exactly the same, the cuttlefish were of the same size. the taste was undoubtly may be a bit different, but this is not just A BIT, it is of great difference. it all comes down to making it with 'heart'. i guess this is perhaps how we can find simple happiness in our chaotic life.'peng-gang' the cuttlefish
the roller to flatten the cuttlefish
he has to climb out of his motorbike to get to the roller that was on the other side to do this part of the task
the flattened and rolled cuttlefish, ready to be munch
